High-end Organic Sericulture and Mulberry Plantation

To better support the comprehensive industry chain development of silk textile and sericultural biotechnology, CATHAYA Group has sequentially planned and operated mulberry plantations spanning 33,333 acres in Zhejiang, Yunnan, and Myanmar. The aim is to establish high-end organic sericulture and mulberry plantations.

Cathaya have established an agricultural industrialization model of "company + cooperatives + bases + farmers," engaging over 20,000 households and more than 100,000 people in mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing. Additionally, over 200 standardized baby silkworm breeding centers has been constructed.

CATHAYA Subsidiary, Baoshan CATHAYA Silk Co., Ltd., has been recognized as a "National Key Leading Enterprise in Agricultural Industrialization," "National Poverty Alleviation Leading Enterprise," "Unit for the Construction of Sericultural Bases in the West ward Mulberry Plantations Project by the Ministry of Commerce," "Presiding Unit of Yunnan Sericulture and Silk Association," "Star Enterprise of Poverty Alleviation in Yunnan Province," and "National Innovation Enterprise in the Sericulture and Silk Industry." Zhejiang Yayun Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd. has been designated as a Technology Action Demonstration Base for Rural Revitalization by the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, a Demonstration Base for Major Scientific and Technological Projects in the 13th Five-Year Plan for Agriculture Breeding in Zhejiang Province, and a Demonstration Base for Scaled and Intensive Sericulture by the Ministry of Commerce.

In 2019, CATHAYA Group and Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences jointly established a sericulture research institute, exclusively owning the intellectual property and operational rights for the male silkworm variety "Qiu Hua × Ping 30". They conduct research on new silkworm varieties, develop new processes, and create innovative models.

In 2020, in the list of agricultural industry strong towns published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, CATHAYA Group created two of the only strong towns in the mulberry silkworm industry, located in Haining and Baoshan.

In 2021, Baoshan base in Yunnan obtained GOTS certification as an organic mulberry plantation, with an annual production of nearly one hundred tons of organic silk cocoons. It is recognized as one of the "High-end Silk Cocoon Bases in China".

CATHAYA Group remains rooted in cocoon/silk production, continually solidifying its full indsutry chain advantages to build a brand for silk raw materials. Moreover, due to the quick returns generated from silkworm rearing and cocoon selling, along with its ease of promotion, it has a significant impact on improving silk raisers' livelihoods and alleviating poverty. The group generates ample employment opportunities for society and guildes people out of poverty to wards prosperity.
